ITS European Congress 2022 did not disappoint and has picked up from last year. It was a fantastic three-day event held by ERTICO ITS Europe and Toulouse Metropole, from 30 May to 1 June 2022. The congress took place at the newly built Exhibition and Conference Centre MEETT — conveniently located near Toulouse-Blagnac Airport.
The 14th ITS European Congress was devoted to smart and sustainable mobility. Given the host city’s position as a model for connected mobility and a well-known center for the space and aeronautics industries, it was the ideal place for this spectacular event.
Congress gathered an impressive number of Intelligent Transport Systems stakeholders from the public and private sectors to present smart mobility innovations, products, and services. It was a pleasure to enjoy the performance of the prestigious members like Jean-Luc Moudenc, a Mayor of Toulouse since 2014.
Intetics Ceo and President Boris Kontsevoi and Dr. Alexander Tretyakov, Business Development Director, Digital and Geo-Solutions, joined 3000+ congress attendees from around 50 countries. They were impressed by the scale of the event and its comprehensive coverage of transport digital transformation.
“The congress showed that the overriding technologies now are geospatial, drones, smart devices, and AI. Luckily, they are accelerated by Intetics CoEs, to provide leadership, best practices, and research within these hottest tech areas,”
states Boris Kontsevoi
And this is not surprising: our White Paper “The Ultimate UAV (Drones) Technologies Overview by Tech Geeks” already showed the industry is overgrowing, and the number of drone and related technologies application areas is endless.
The event program covered five central topics, including:
- Services for citizens: intelligent traffic, safer mobility, MaaS, etc.
- Next-generation solutions: mapping and geolocation, next-gen AI, 5G, 6G, and beyond, etc.
- Green and sustainable mobility: decarbonization, electrification, hydrogen, etc.
- From large-scale trials to deployment: living labs, transferability of solutions.
- Cities as logistic hubs: delivery parking, distribution hubs, green vehicle routing, data sharing platforms, etc.
“Each conversation we had with colleagues proved that many existing Smart Mobility Platforms could not be out-of-the-box. They need integration with the existing end-user systems or third-party tools. What is more, they require developing additional software components. Once again, we are convinced in demand for custom Transportation and Mobility Solutions development and their continuing growth in the future.”
Alexander Tretyakov, Business Development Director, Digital and Geo-Solutions
Considering social events, Boris visited the Illustrious Dinner, an invitation-only highlight of the ITS European Congress for VIPs. It took place at Salle des Illustres, in the majestic Capitole with a theatre and many staterooms from the XII century.
We are thankful to the organizers and participants for receiving an inspiring viewpoint on the future of mobility and transport, an upbeat atmosphere, and a welcoming city full of surprising aerospatial discoveries.
“We were also impressed by the showcased solutions’ innovative predictive maintenance, face-tracking, and other next-gen functionality. Intelligent mobility algorithms are no longer based only on spatiotemporal features. Algorithms can now monitor the driver and passengers’ behavior, or on the other hand, the state of electric car battery charging devices is checked via digital twin. And predictive maintenance solutions find their application even for electric bike components!”
